Barbie Books!

I was fortunate enough to write four books starring Barbie, although unfortunately they were/are only available in supermarkets and drugstores. I have copies of the books so I know they exist, but I’ve never seen them in the wild. If anyone spots my Barbie books out there, please let me know!

The Legion of Forgettable Supervillains Graphic Novel Preview!

The Legion of the Forgettable Supervillains by J. E. Bright cover

I’m super excited that my first graphic novel, The Legion of Forgettable Supervillains, will be available July 19, 2022 from Dynamite Entertainment.

Ben Mondo seems to only have mediocre abilities that certainly don’t live up to his family’s high-powered history as the ultimate heroes of Saga City. After he’s humbled again by the pompous hero Sir Superior, Ben befriends a misfit group of wannabe superheroes with issues who have also been overlooked. But when Ben is accidentally linked to a bank heist and goes viral as a new supervillain, he and his friends decide to make the most of his infamy by leaning in to their villainy. They enjoy a wild, mischievous ride for a while, but when they fall victim to a nefarious plot, it’s up to Ben and his friends to save Saga City from total destruction.

Winx Novelizations!

Back in 2013, I wrote two novelizations for Nickelodeon’s animated show Winx Club, each covering an entire season of the fairies’ and specialists’ magical adventures.

I was impressed with the storytelling and characters back then, and I was very pleased to watch the new Netflix show Fate: The Winx Saga, which was super fun . . . even if I like the original animated version better. The Netflix storyline is very similar to the plot of my novelization Winx Club: The Power of Dragon Flame, which progresses through Bloom learning to understand and control her powers while negotiating her relationships with the headmistress, her parents, Stella, Musa, Flora, Techna, Aisha, Riven, and Sky. The book goes further into Alfea’s war with the evil witches, though.

The second novelization I wrote was called Winx Club: Beware the Shadow Phoenix, which continues Bloom and her powerful friends’ adventures as they welcome a new classmate (Roxy) and battle a dark lord.

New Recess Heroes Cover and Spanish Version!

A major cover refresh for Recess Heroes Face the Moon Fumes, my middle-grade science fiction adventure chapter book with adorable art from original illustrator Rima Salloum, is in the works for release in the near future. I like that it shows more action than the previous cover — and shows Brett, the newest Recess Hero, literally facing a Moon Fume. I do miss all the guys being on the front, but at least the whole team is on the back cover.

In other exciting news, the book was translated into Spanish by Hernán Echavarría. The Spanish version, Los Héroes
del Recreo contra los gases de la Luna
, will be available soon from Brighten Press.

Both the Spanish edition, Los Héroes del Recreo contra los gases de la Luna, and the existing English version of Recess Heroes Face the Moon Fumes with the new cover will be available in the next month or so from Brighten Press.

As always, you will also be able to find it here at jebright.com.
